The Brno Observatory and Planetarium Director’s Award:
Encounters in the Milky Way, produced by American Museum of Natural History
The Best Movie Award:
Edge of the Sky, produced by Brno Observatory and Planetarium
Jury: Featuring spectacular, groundbreaking cinematography shot on drones, time lapse rigs, and an ultra high altitude balloon in some of the most challenging environments, Edge of the Sky is a remarkable achievement in fulldome filmmaking. With an engaging original story, a sweeping score, and a dreamy aesthetic approach to a technical subject, Edge of the Sky is a crowning achievement in fulldome filmmaking that future creators will study and learn from for years to come.
The Best Short Award:
Goodbye Goldie, produced by Pat Clark
Jury: This charming film captures the joy of childhood mixed with the sadness of loss, all told with a sense of unforgettable wit and whimsy. Goodbye Goldie is the story of a goldfish, his short but wonderful life, and sweet and fitting return to the waters. It’s rare that we get to laugh in the dome, and this short film shows playful possibilities for science communication in the planetarium. Thanks to the filmmakers for this inspired creation. And thank you Goldie for such a full life.
